Solid Oak Flooring
Oak floors are getting really popular as people recognise the quality of oak over cheaper laminates and we're fitting more and more of them.

This solid French oak floor was layed on 25x50mm treated battens which were drilled and screwed at 600mm spacings to the concrete floor.

Each board was individually laid and fixed with a porta-nailer, fixing the board with a 50mm brad nail through the tongue.

25mm insulation was cut and fitted between each batten, being pushed under the boards.

Once laid, the floor was lightly sanded with a belt sander to remove marks and small uneven edges.

One coat of Liberon dark oak wood dye was applied to match the clients requirements and this was left to dry for 12 hours.
Finally, one coat of Osmo Polyx-oil was applied with a brush and left to dry for 24 hours. The floor was then sanded down with 240 finishing paper, vacuumed and then given another coat of Osmo Polyx-oil.
